Speaker: Blake Moffit

Blake Moffitt has received both a MS and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University . Blake is currently pursuing a PhD at Georgia Tech in Aerospace Engineering and expects to graduate in 2007.

Blake has been a primary member of student teams that won first place in the 1999-2000 AIAA Design Build Fly Competition and the 2004 NASA University Level Student Design Competition, HALE Aircraft.

Blake was Graduate Student of the Year, a finalist for Teaching Assistant of the Year at Utah State in 2002-2003 and received a 6 month fellowship to perform research at the University of Wuerzburg in Germany . Blake has also worked for three years as a Satellite Thermal Engineer at the Space Dynamics Laboratory in Logan , UT and participated in the design, analysis, and testing of several satellites. Blake has varied interests including design optimization techniques, UAV sizing and synthesis, propeller propulsion, thermodynamics, and orbital mechanics. Blake is also an accomplished pianist and artist and he and his wife have two young boys. Blake has been a member of AIAA since 1999.
