Council members, through their volunteerism, enthusiasm and dedication
contribute to the success and vitality of the section and attend to the
day to day duties required to keep the section going including planning
events and speakers, supporting national events held within the Atlanta
area and acting as a representative of AIAA to the public and to its
members. The Section Officers are elected
annually according to the by-laws of the Atlanta Section. They
provide the leadership and are responsible for ensuring that the
functions of the various committees are attended to and responsible for the overall
operation of the section.

The various committees establish the "working" arm of the section. The following committees are chaired by either elected council members or appointed members in good standing:
This committee is responsible for the planning and execution of all section awards.
This committee is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the section website and related electronic media; distribution of member notifications; and point of contact for all outside inquiries regarding section activities.
This committee maintains the membership statistics and information for the section. It is also the point of contact for new members and existing member inquiries.
This committee's mission is to foster fun, interactive, “hands-on” teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for students in grades K-12, and to generate technical excellence and interest in pursuing aerospace related careers to fulfill future workforce technical needs.
This committee is in charge of arranging the regularly scheduled dinner meetings. The responsibilities include arranging the facilities, menu, and speaker/program for each meeting. The current council has dedicated itself to actively assisting this committee with speaker ideas and acquisition when necessary to help lighten the burden of these activities.
This committee is the point of contact for all public policy initiatives for the section.
