Jim Pernikoff

Mr. Pernikoff holds a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida . This was the culmination of a desire that began at the age of 6, when, on Long Island , he saw one of the first Boeing 707s heading east towards Europe .

He spent over 18 years in Airframe Design at Grumman Aerospace, principally in New York , working on a wide variety of programs, including F-14, A-6, C-2, X-29 and Shuttle Wing. He also spent some time at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab working on a mockup for a nuclear fusion test reactor.

He also had two stints at Boeing Commercial in Seattle , working on detail design of the Boeing 767 and 777, and at Boeing Helicopter in Philadelphia , working on the V-22 Osprey.

Currently, Mr. Pernikoff is working at Lockheed Martin on the F/A-22 Raptor in the same capacity. He has been an AIAA member since 1972 and has also been involved in aviation history and modeling, being a longtime member of the AAHS, IPMS and Friends of the Air Force Museum . His other interests include photography, classic cars, road-map collecting and auto & hydroplane racing.
